Hiking

The region of the Artense and the Sancy mountains are very adapted to hiking (low, medium and high mountain). Several guides are available to guide you during these walks. Here is a selection:

 

Sancy Artense, Chemin Faisant (Chamina Edition)

A guide to the discovery landscape, heritage, cultural, economic of the region of the Artense. This guide includes 19 hiking track, 1 equestrian track, 2 mountainbike circuits, and 2 tracks to be made by car.

Massif du Sancy et Artense (Chamina Edition)

A guide focusing more on the high mountain and including the various mountains of the Massif Central, the lakes of volcanic origin and high mountain villages. This guide includes 47 hiking tracks, from 1h30 to 6h of market and 28 tracks that can be done with mountainbikes.

Les Chemins de Sumène Artense (Cantal Auvergne)

A guide that will allow you to discover the area of Sumene Artense, in the north of the department of Cantal. This guide includes 25 hiking tracks , 12 hiking tracks, as well as a large amount of information about the territory.

The guides presented above can be ordered on the internet. You may also find them in the tourism offices in the surrounding villages.

And to conclude, you can also just decide to take a walk in the area surrounding the cottages without the help of guides. There are in the area next to the cottages a large amount of very many small paths made of sand, grass or paved. You may for example walk to the Tarentain river, which is very peaceful and typical of the plateau of the Artense. The surroundings are also very adapted for mushroom picking.
